Overcoming
the inevitable tensions between cultures, ages and sexes in
the workplace results in increased productivity, staff
retention rates and creates a more cohesive and enjoyable
environment in which to achieve great results. A live
performance of excerpts from Buzo’s absorbing and
entertaining Australian play “Norm and Ahmed” followed by a
hands-on facilitated workshop makes for a creative and
thought-provoking training tool for businesses.
“Norm and Ahmed” is Australian playwright, author and
sports writer Alex Buzo’s ever-popular theatre work whose
powerful premise is “never underestimate the power of
difference.” It caused a furore when it premiered in
Australia in 1968 as it depicted an Aussie bloke in a frank
and amusing style. Warts and all. It’s hard to believe, but
real Australians (apart from convicts and bushrangers) just
weren’t on Australian screens or stages and Alex Buzo was
the first writer to ask the hard questions about what it
really means to be “Australian.” Forty years later, it’s
been produced around the world, studied in schools and
universities Australia-wide and is currently a set text for
the NSW HSC Syllabus.
Workshops can be customised to suit any workplace or number
of participants. For enquiries, email Emma
Buzo or phone 0411 399923.
